As his internship at Alex Thomson Racing comes to an end, Montel Fagan-Jordan helps prepare HUGO BOSS for the Route Du Rhum which starts next month

Sadly my internship with the Alex Thomson Racing team has now come to an end.

During my final week, the boat went out for an overnight sail, for some testing and training ahead of the Route Du Rhum, which is coming up (It starts on 04 November 2018).

Even though HUGO BOSS was away, there was still work to be done on shore in preparation for the boat’s return and everything coming up in the schedule. I was therefore kept busy with the team who remained here at HQ in Gosport.

On Wednesday, Alex and the crew returned with the boat from testing and it was time to get all the final work done in order to get her race ready.

There has been so much that I have learned during my time with the team and so many highlights that stand out.

Sailing on HUGO BOSS is always one of those highlights and something I have really enjoyed.

I believe that every day I have been here, I have learned something new, and I was truly gifted to be offered this opportunity.

I didn’t realise quite how much I would learn during the placement, but I also now realise how much more I still have to learn!

Because of that, I asked the team if I could stay with them for a bit longer. Now, I’m happy to let everyone know that I’ll be joining Alex Thomson Racing for the next year, which I’m ecstatic about.

I can’t stop thinking about the opportunities that may come my way, and how much more I’m going to learn working with the team.

We are looking forward to the Route du Rhum and beyond!
