Liveaboards given 10 days to up anchor

More than 100 houseboat dwellers have been told to cast off from a mooring site which has accommodated boat houses for a century.

Residents of Springalls Wharf in Bermondsey Wall West on the south bank of the River Thames near Tower Bridge, where flats cost up to 1 million pounds (sterling) consider the barges an ‘eyesore’.

They complained to the Port of London Authority who have in turn told the boat people they have no planning permission to moor there and that they must move.
