Plus new 'Whitbread' ticket

This year’s PSP Southampton Boat Show, running from 14-23 September, will feature a new practical area giving classes in boat-handling.

The new section, run by the RYA, will offer masterclasses on the shore and on the water for sailors covering a wide range of topics including MOB drills, radar, engine maintenance and DSC radios.

Workshops will be run every day. You can book places for practical sessions on the water at the Try-a-boat booking point, at stand A140, at the show but it’s advisable to book shorebased sessions before via this link:

Meanwhile the show has a series of new exhibits and attractions for visitors this year, including the Whitbread Experience, priced at £60, giving punters the chance to sail for 90 minutes on Blueprint, a Whitbread 60 charter yacht based on the Hamble.

As ever Southampton’s temporary pontoons will be packed with boats and organisers say there will be 87 cruising yachts alone.
