Charter yachts fail MCA inspection

An MCA inspection on charter yachts over 24m long on the French Cote d”Azur has thrown up regulation deficiencies.

The boats – all registered in the UK or Cayman Islands – were boarded in Monaco, Antibes, and Golfe Juan.

Among the problems found were: fire pumps nor priming properly; engine power incompatible with boat’s tonnage; nav lights failing International Collision Regs; Load Line certificates expired; no ‘Not Under Command’ lights; and lack of Flag State endorsements on Certificates of Competency.
