Nigel Irens to lecture about his life and work

Yacht designer Nigel Irens is to lecture at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth on Wednesday 20 August at 7pm about his career.

His projects range from 60′ racing trimarans displacing 5.3 tonnes to a live-aboard 40′ cruising gaffer which weighs in at 20 tonnes. His designs have been at the forefront of multihull oceanic racing since the mid eighties. Victories include four consecutive outright wins in the Royal Western Yacht Club (RWYC) single handed Transatlantic Race (currently known as Europel New Man STAR) and a Route du Rhum win in 1986.

From racing and performance multihulls to sailing and cruising yacht design, Irens is a man who has left few stones unturned in his designing career, and he isn’t planning to stop there, in the pipeline is a 100 Passenger Ferry Proposal!

Lecture and supper cost is £20. Tickets only available in advance. To book call 01326 214546 or drop into the Museum and ask at the Information desk. Tickets for lecture only available at £7.50
