Come and see how to avoid disaster

On Friday all those interested in seeing what happens when you neglect safety issues afloat can gaze at a wreck: Fizzical the 40ft Jeanneau Sun Fizz 40 ketch which Yachting Monthly has capsized, sunk, dismasted, set ablaze and blown up, all in the name of safety research, is resting her ragged gel-coat at the London Boat Show 6-15 January.

With a full team of experts from boat transporters, PSP, overseeing the road haulage from MDL’s Hamble Point Marina, two cranes and a fork-lift truck were used to lift the yacht from their low loader into ExCel’s show centre at Victoria Dock, East London.

Yachting Monthly staff will be on hand at the Crash Test Boat Stand to talk visitors through the experience. Once the London Boat Show finishes, PSP will be transporting the Crash Test Boat to the International Boat Building Training College, in Lowestoft, Suffolk, where she will be worked on by students.
