Olympic gold medalist, Iain Percy has been recruited as a core member of the British sailing team bidding for the 32nd America's Cup in 2007
Iain Percy is the latest high profile recruit to the GBR Challenge team, founded by Peter Harrison. Having won a gold medal in the Finn class at the Sydney Olympics, Percy is now campaigning for the Athens 2004 Olympics in the Star Class with Steve Mitchell. He will be involved in the early strategic planning stages of the America’s Cup bid and, following the Olympic Games, will become a full-time sailing team member. “We have the talent to win this event and bring the Cup back to Britain,” commented Percy, whose ambition it has always been to sail for Great Britain in the America’s Cup. The 32nd Americas Cup takes place in 2007 and will be hosted in Europe for the first time ever.
