The burghers of an ancient yachting station are re-branding it with glamourous imagery to flag up new facilities. Queenborough in Kent is one of the best locations for visitors to the River Thames and East Coast. It is also the only one with shelter, deep water and now – at last – a permanent landing pontoon.

Located where The Swale, and rivers Medway and Thames meet, Queenborough is ideal station for yachts from the East Coast or Ramsgate and the South, a natural stopover en-route for London which is a flood tide away. As a result many foreign yachts will invariably be found swinging round the buoys there.

There are now a new substantial floating pontoon moorings, which are accessible at all states of the tide, with walk ashore access. A trot boat service is also now in operation which is free of charge as long as you are paying for a mooring – £14 – for an overnight stay.

The moorings are within a couple of miles of dual carriageways which lead directly to the motorway network, and is also nearby Queenborough Railway Station providing ready access to the fast train link. A variety of swinging, fixed and creek moorings are available at competitive rates.

There is secure dinghy storage, scrubbing berths, painting berths, and a slipway. A variety of swinging, fixed and creek moorings are available at competitive rates.
