Editorial and marketing staff welcome Yachting Monthly readers and industry top brass

The Yachting Monthly stand at the Southampton Boat Show was the place to be on Sunday afternoon as editorial and marketing staff welcomed a host of readers for beer, nibbles and a good chat about sailing.

The rain didn’t stop play and the atmosphere was convivial as YM editor Kieran Flatt offered pints of Alton’s Pride, a locally brewed ale that proved a welcome fillip to boat show punters after a day on the rather wet pontoons.

Deputy editor Rob Peake and assistant editor Chris Beeson were there, along with marketing director Richard Shead’s boat show team, who were on hand with a selection of beverages for all members of the family.

Industry members were also present, among them members of the Sailing Rallies team and skippers from PYD (Professional Yacht Deliveries), who are working together on Sailing Rallies’ new sailing rally in the Baltic next year.

There were many Yachting Monthly writers and readers on the stand, including pilot book author Mark Fishwick, who has recently been made co-editor of Reeds Almanac, and new YM contributor Sophie Turner, fresh from a stint as cook on a yacht in the Fastnet Race, during which she managed to dish up lamb tagine, beef stroganoff and ice cream as they rounded the Rock. Yachting Monthly editor Kieran Flatt said: ‘Thanks to all who came along and made the afternoon such a success.’
